Sep 06, 2009 A Day in The Life!
People always ask me what I do all day...here's an example:
6:30 | Get up, read e-mail, do some office work. |
---|---|
7:00 | feed and spend time with my dog who is recouping from being hit by a car |
7:30 | spray a field for weeds. |
9:00 | vaccum poop in a pasture. |
11:00 | dump poop into our recycle bin. |
12:00 | lunch |
1:00 | lunch for dog and time spent with him |
2:00 | video 3 babies |
4:00 | meet vet to put rocker shoes on baby |
5:00 | rehearse 'liberty' class with Waindrop |
6:00 | work with the youngest 2 foals, one of which still doesn't come to me when called |
7:00 | dinner |
8:00 | play time with the rest of the babies and moms... |
I usually fit in other chores like managing our flood irrigation, harrowing the round pen, mowing lots of lawn and even more weeds (hours of mowing every week)! All labor of love. Greg, my husband, has 3 plumbing chores today....Plus he has to get the videos up! We WILL get in some riding this week!!
Ruth-Aug 31, 2009 Show Time!!
We're getting ready for several shows...2 keurings, a Vacaville show, championships and the show after the Reno keuring. We're showing almost everybody in some class or another...We're harvesting lots of vegetables from our garden....finally! I think I'm showing 2 horses in the Liberty class....it's really fun...We really need to get new pics and videos up...especially of the babies!! They are super sweet and fun....

Jul 28, 2009 Hot August Days!
Well, July is almost over. 6 mares confirmed pregnant (we wait until heartbeart to say that) 4 bred but not confirmed, and 1 not bred....breeding has been difficult this year...I've changed vets and things are going alot smoother...Babies are HUGE!! We're still getting water from our flood irrigation and Greg (husband) and I are still 'discussing' the best way to manage it for the hotest month to come. My riding is going well...I skipped for several weeks, but picked it up again...I'm hoping to show in August, but have 2 more weeks to sign up....I don't like to do things 'half a***ed', and I'm definitely not prepared, but then again, this is a fun thing, so I still might go for it...if I go, I know I'll feel great...even the fact that I'm still riding even though Ludsen tripped and almost ended on the ground with me on him yesterday! Guess I need to keep him more attentive...but we were just mosseying around the property...I'm sure I'll have my first fall sooner or later...

Jul 12, 2009 Time to catch up!
I can't believe I haven't posted for so long....Foaling season, breeding, baby training, show season and our ranch day prep., have swept my time away...how lucky I am. I just started riding again. I'm excited! I'm a greener than green rider, but given my previous phobia of horses, I allow myself to feel good about my riding....this continues to be a spectacular year...I'm not saying I haven't had problems...employees, more undisclosed problems with horses I've bought...but that stuff is what it is, and I have to pull my head above water, take a breath and be thankful for the amazing opportunity I have. Here's a pic of me and one of our babies...a 500 lb baby! I've been interested in working with non-profits...I need to spend some time deciding the best way to connect with an organization and utilize our loving Friesians...Something about them, or I should say everything about them, makes people just so at ease....Something definitely made for sharing...
Jun 28, 2009 Ranch Day, benefiting American Cancer Society
Maddi's Friesian Ranch 2nd Ranch Day benefiting the American Cancer Society. We raised $4192 this year. We put on a pas de deux, a round pen training demo and a baby training demo. We shared a delicious bbq, and in great Nevada tradition, had a poker game in the evening. A full day of great fun. We are so fortunate to be able to share our ranch and horses while raising money for an important charity.
