Aug 04, 2012 I'm finally making time!!
We've been really busy this year....10 foals, new horses, breeding 15 mares (with 3 embryo transfers), new barn, new hay storage, starting to grow our own hay which includes prepping the ground...and, trying to get 4 mares into great shape for the keuring (judging) in September. Our 3 year old is in great shape, one Crown mare is in good shape, the 2nd one is in ok shape and the 3rd one needs ALOT more weight and work. She has a nursing foal on her side and she's pregnant; when she arrived here she was already about 100 lbs. underweight! Anyway, any Crown mares that don't make Model, will try again next year. We're adding a sled to our conditioning program, which will really help muscling their butt muscles. I'm not sure if we have enough time this year to really make a difference. But we're trying! Of course, our foals still get handled daily...it's alot of time, but it's worth it for us and our customers who get very well mannered horses. I did take some video the other day and will get it up soon. I am taking 3 days off to visit our Granddaughter. We're seeeing the horse show Cavalia...Everyone is very excited!

Sep 18, 2011 Fun with the ball!!
Our foals love to play with balls. They get very playful, sometimes rolling off of the ball, getting mad and kicking it ;-)
I think it's a great exercise for them. They're curious and this desensitizes them on things moving around by them.
Here's a link to a short video...my dog was trying to get in there...Kaleb couldn't decide if he wanted to play with the ball, play with the dog, or show the dog that he was, in fact, the alpha of the two of them!!
Below is a link to a video taken about a month ago.
Aug 18, 2011 Slowing down
The 2011 breeding season is over. Our grand total as of right now is 13 pregnant for 2012!! And we have 2 new additions to our broodmare herd Nitha and Fobke. They are both still in Colorado with their old owners. We 'see them for a couple more months but we are very excited about the new additions. Next year we start foaling out in march and end in Mid-July, going to be a long foaling season, but all worth it. The 2011 babies are getting so big already, you leave for a couple days and when you get back you can hardly recognize them they change so quickly. The Santa Rosa Keuring is fast approaching we have about 1 month left until we leave. Last week our veterinarian implanted the foals micro-chips, they all were little champs about it. That is why you have to love the Friesian breed; they are all so easy going!! Well this next month is going to fly by we have a long of little things to get done before the keuring.. Can't wait
